MY ESEL grows in Austria

My Esel is fully committed to regionality. The know-how and the entire production process are Made in Austria. Each bike is manufactured and assembled in Upper Austria from the wood of slow-growing trees from sustainable forestry (PEFC certified).

Wood is the perfect material for a bicycle frame. Because wood ensures that vibrations and shocks are optimally absorbed. The result is exceptional riding comfort. Wooden bicycles are also light, robust and suitable for everyday use. In the city, over hill and dale on country lanes or on steep terrain. Depending on the model and riding style.

MY ESEL frame: A pioneering technology inspired by the ski industry

The production of the MY ESEL wooden frame is actually comparable to that of a racing ski. Thanks to the co-founder's many years of experience in the ski industry, particularly as chief developer, this technology has been successfully transferred to bicycles. The basis of the wooden frame is the use of several layers of different types of wood. Each layer fulfills a specific function, from hardness, robustness and rigidity to flexibility to efficiently absorb shocks and impacts. The result is a frame that is both stable and comfortable.
Another feature of the wooden frame is its hollow construction. As with carbon frames, this saves weight without compromising the strength and performance of the frame.
My Esel bikes are finished with a precisely applied 4-layer paint seal, inspired by boat building. Each layer fulfills a specific function: UV resistance, waterproofing, dirt repellency & scratch resistance. All unprotected areas are finally protected with an insulating industrial filler.

UPEA is a development of My Esel GmbH. The lightweight and dynamic hub drive offers optimum performance for hilly terrain. The My Esel drive performs its services invisibly and silently.
